SAMBA BAND & SESSIONS
At One Heart Drummers we love making rhythms and drumming with people. Part of releasing this sound together involves sampling different types of rhythms from around the world and so we can now run sessions of both African drumming and Samba drumming from Brazil.
Samba drumming sessions are very much a team based activity where a group of people come together to make a rhythm with each person contributing to the overall rhythm based music.
Samba drumming instruments range from large ‘surdo’ drums down to small hand held ‘tamborim’ drums or ‘Ganza’ shakers. Samba is a more instructed or conducted style of drumming but is great fun, especially when trying to move around carrying a drum at the same time as playing a beat! Samba drumming definitely captures something of a carnival atmosphere at the same time as building comradery and team spirit.
